Believe (poem)
Believe
Starting to believe again
Coming in so slowly
Realizing eyes wide open
Accepting of it wholly
Twisted up in thinking
And someone else’s thought
Left reeling in a world
Where I had forgot
To Believe.......
I forgot the world was good
That truth was a thing
Honesty in high regard
Someone could you bring
Where the heart was sacred
And treated with respect
Not to be cast aside
Bleeding broken wrecked
Sensitivity a hallowed hall
Tenderness a home
Free soul land to tend to
Wilderness to roam
Now don’t let me sway you
I know that things go wrong
All the time and so much so
We know it all along
That this ain’t always easy
Nope it’s just not so
So much learning work involved
Loves not an easy go
But sometimes......
And if you’re lucky
Lots of sometimes.....
You meet a heart that matches
Not a perfect fit of course
Say, two hearts
Attached by patches
Scrappy bits of old cloth
And little bits of new
Stitched up all criss crossed
Looks like one.....it’s two
Because of imperfections
Sewn up all together
Hearts that smush up face to face
Make life a little better
Spun together long ago
Your soul knew my soul
Touching in so many times
But always letting go
But now.....
With consciousness and honesty
We get to start anew
Saying what is in the mind
Accepting it with you
And so we travel down the path
Hand in hand we weave
Glad that you are here with me
Cause you helped me to
Believe
