The Album Is Dead (Blog)
The Album is Dead
Or should I say the album is dead????
I’ve been hearing this a lot from a few insider and outsider sources.
The music industry is changing
Daily....
Artists are moving from full
LP and EP releases
To releasing singles one at a time.
Time and attention given to a single track......
Grinding them out one at a time...
Paying a higher price for production of each track.
For streaming platforms....
And potential higher audience turn out.....
I kinda get it........ya man totally!!!
I’m on the precipice of sending out my second full album into the world......
I gotta say that I’m kinda digging the “old school” full album release.
One big home for my music to live.
One huge project to let go of and set free.
Streaming.....yes
The good tracks will rise to the top?????
Maybe????
Maybe not????
And most likely won’t.....as
It’s a live album so there are rawwwwww parts......
Parts that I can’t stand because it’s real time.
But also parts that I love so deeply
I want to cry........
The Music Biz
What a crazy little piece of the world to reside in.....
And
No Matter What The Industry Says
I’m going to follow my heart
Walking the path that says
“You don’t have to do it like they want you too”
“Do it like you want to”
“Stand in the resistance and continue to let your art grow”
“Be Scared”
“Be Terrified”
“Be Open”
“But most of all......Keep Going”
And I will......
Guys.....this album isn’t perfect.....
And I freakin love it so deeply
For exactly that reason
Because nothing in life is perfect
But that’s what makes it so god damn beautiful
I can’t wait to show it to you
